The Power of Good Girl Friends.

I have had a really horrible summer. Going through a break up, especially when you had no idea it was coming, is not fun at all. But when I was feeling low and ugly crying who was there…the most amazing females I know.

You know you have a great blogging partner and friend when you can turn up to her house and just cry for a few hours. That is what Emily is to me. This woman works in another city, has to commute every day and has her own life stuff going but when I was in need she made herself completely available to me. She was a shoulder for me to cry on, she was an amazing advice giver and a great distracter and I would have struggled so much these last few weeks without her there. I’m half hoping she gets dumped soon so I can make it up to her (I don’t really just trust me she’ll find that funny).

Let’s not forget the best friend a girl can have, our mums. When you’re only single figures old she’s your absolute world, then as your grow up she seems like the devil and it’s not until your high teens that you realise she’s just a girl like you but she knows you better than she knows herself. Now, I will argue that my mum is the best in the world and after my break up she really was, she let me be sad but that didn’t stop her telling me some much needed home truths. I am so glad to have that wonderful woman in my life helping to guide me through the best and worst of times, I hope I’m half as good at being a mum as she is.

Us girls have this horrible habit of wanting to tear each other down for the most trivial of things, usually because of some stupid boy. Yet when something goes wrong those same girls are the ones we go running to because only they can understand and support us the way we need. So, I am taking an oath, as someone who recently really leaned on the fabulous females in her life, to try every day to only raise women up and support girls in whatever they choose to do. We need each other more than we care to admit and I would like to my bit to end girl hate.

Anyway that was just a little thought that’s been going around my head for these last few weeks. Make sure you show your girl friends or anyone who means anything to you that you appreciate them and tell them often.

The event was held at The Orangery at Mount Edgecumbe on a beautiful May Saturday. Emily and I arrived a little early and decided to take some pictures in the gorgeous surroundings of Mount Edgecumbe. And here’s the fun we had.

In case you were wondering about my outfit:

15 of My Favourite Feelings.

I know I`ve been a little bit all over the place, but December has been a very stressful month. I`ve been applying for teacher training courses and have had interviews and its not an easy process. So I need a slightly less high maintenance post so here you have 15 of my favourite feelings.

  1. Finding a tenner in my coat pocket.
  2. Making my nephew laugh…that smile.
  3. When you FINALLY pop a stubborn spot.
  4. Being that one person your friend can talk to.
  5. When everyone loves what you`ve cooked.
  6. When you achieve that flawless base.
  7. The first glass of Diet Coke after a long day.
  8. Driving into work knowing that I love my job.
  9. The goosebumps you get when a song really hits home.
  10. Making my mum and dad proud.
  11. Wearing pjs, in no make up and no bra feeling beautiful.
  12. The quiet of a cricket ground before the crowds enter.
  13. Being in the arms of the man (or person) you love knowing he truly loves you.
  14. Being one of the lads when you`re a girl.
  15. Knowing that I am a kick ass woman and the best me I can be.

Sorry this is a little short but I have to get back to interview preparation.

My Go To Make Up.

When you wake up at 6am 5 nights a week you tend to go into a make up auto pilot, what with the lack of being properly awake. So this is what I wear 99% of the time I`m wearing make up.

I start with my favourite base the Estee Lauder Double Wear All-Day Glow BB in Intensity 1.0. I apply it with fingers and apply it very thinly and it evens my skin tone out nicely whilst letting my skin breathe a little, aka you can still see my freckles through it.

Next I apply the Rimmel 2-in-1 Concealer and Highlighter in 010 Ivory on any blemishes and then use this Eco Tool tiny buffer brush to blend out the concealer. I also use this under my eyes but I only apply a little as I don`t have particularly bad eye bags…thank the lord.

Next I set all of my blemish concealing and pay special attention to my forehead with the Maybelline Matte Maker in 10 Classic Ivory and it`s a great skin control product.

Next I use the Collection Cover Stick in 01 Light to go over any particularly stubborn blemishes to try and just get rid of the red.

Lastly, I use The body Shop All in One Cheek Colour in Bubblegum and it`s a great everyday flush of pink blusher that is just a no brainer when my brain isn`t awake yet.

On a day to day basis I don`t do any eye make up or do my eyebrows. This is mainly because I`m lazy and it takes far too long but also as a glasses wearer I find that you can never really see if my eyes and eyebrows are done so I just skip them.

So this is what I wear on the regular. It`s fast, it`s simple and it`s effective.

Get to Know Me: Sally!

Doing something a little different today. Thought you might like to get to know a little more about me. So a quick run through the basics my name is Sally, I’m 24 and I’m a TA at a secondary school. Now I’ve amended a bunch of questions from a tag I found so you can learn a little more about me. Now lets get started.

My ‘Tekkers’ hoody and some H&M sweat pants.

2: Ever been in love?
Yes and currently am.

I weirdly always seem to think that I’m taller than I am but I think I’m about 5’6”-5’7”.

6: Any tattoos?
Yeah I have 8. 3 big-ish ones and 5 little ones.

7: Any piercings?
Again 8 but only 2 are still open. Wish I still had both sides of my nose pierced, everyone hated it but I loved the look of two nose rings on either side.

8: OTP?
I’m going to assume that means Otter Training Partner and no I don’t have one. Though I wish I had an Otter.

Loud music even if its soft.

20: Where do you go when you’re sad?
To my bed and snuggle up.

21: Ever been in a physical fight?
I’ve been in many mosh pits so basically yes.

22: Turn on?
Being slightly left of centre. Being just weird and odd enough.

23: Turn off?
Selfishness.

24: Fears?

I blasted out some Adele on the drive home from work.

So that’s a little insight into me. Might do something like this again soon so you can get to know the person behind the blog.

Falling In Love With Blogging

My journey with appreciating and ultimately consuming online content creation began over on Instagram when I stumbled across an Image of Megan Reinks (previously Rosette) and her efforts towards the stacking trend. I fell in love with an image she created (below) and when I went to follow her I found she had a Youtube Channel.

From here I found Essie Button, Fleur De Force, Mac Barbie 07,  Anne or Shine and innumerable others, individuals creating easy to access great content you could stream on demand from very likeable and professional women. This year I fell in Love with blogging, it began again over on Instagram, with Georgia Horne of Fuller Figure Fuller Bust. Her vintage inspired style , her body confidence and her appreciate of beautiful lingerie for the larger busted lady made me fall in love with her Facebook and Instagram accounts. As a larger busted lady myself it was amazing to find a woman with a defined sense of style and an appreciation for beautiful larger sized lingere. After a trawl through her Instagram account I think this is the first image of hers that I accessed:

When I got an unexpected follow by a blogger on Twitter, Amber of Forever Amber, and discovered her content I fell further in love with blogging. She was a lifestyle blogger who created almost daily posts on her beautiful vintage inspired style, beauty choices and the Scottish countryside as well as really personal posts.

Add this to my developing love of Pinterest, fuelled mid lecture one day by the lovely Hannah from Tea In My Wardrobe, and online content creation became one of the best bits of my day. I Love social media, and technology. I love both fashion and art. I’m not arty or overly creative in the traditional sense, but Ive always loved writing and organising things. I did a degree with a hospitality and joint focus, I couldn’t paint you a landscape but I can snap a “decent” image and can create an amazing leaving party.

This online content has enabled me to explore creativity in a new medium to the “traditional” I’ve grown used to. I know there’s a bad side, but that’s life.

Currently I’m enjoying having something to channel my creative energies into, and having another person I can share it with.
