Perfect Summer Lipsticks

I like lip products a lot, this is actually my second favourites posts in the last few months. When I did my last shoot with the lovely Matt, I wanted to have four very different makeup looks and lip products are one of the easiest ways to change up a look. So here are my favourites: there’s a nude, a very 80s fuchsia pink and a couple reds.

Collection – Velvet Kiss Caramel – £2.99

Fleur De Force mentioned this in about six videos, and I had to buy this. A pinky nude shade, this will leave you with change from a fiver, if you can get hold of the shade. After a month of searching, I found this on a trolly whilst shelves were being released stocked.

I’m not a nude lip person naturally, and I find this product surprisingly drying. That said, this leaves a lovely understated look that pairs well with statement eyes.

Bourjoius – Rouge Edition Velvet Olé flamingo! – £8.99

I have three of the Rouge Edition range, and I am stopping myself from buying more. This liquid lipstick dries Matte and doesn’t really budge. I wore this to work with a PJ style top, In an attempt to add some gloss to the look and though the product wore off, it did so slowly leaving a gorgeous stain behind.

These products call for a Micellar Water or oil based cleanser to thoroughly, and gently remove them.

Estée Lauder -Pure Color Envy Matte 320 Volatile – £26.00

This was an indulgent purchase. I spend my boots points once a year on premium beauty, last year it was Dior, and this year it was Estée Lauder. After making my friend Katie and Katie run around boots with me swatcjing every red imaginable I settled on this highly pigmented Matte red. After getting this applied, I fell in love and brought it home.

This is still a special purchase and I afore wearing it. It needs more frequent touch ups than MACs Ruby Woo, but it is such an incredible colour and formula it more than makes up for it.

Revlon – Colorburst Lipstick Butter Candy Apple – £7.99

A gorgeous sheer red, I fall back on this when I need a low maintenance pick me up. Very moisturisinf and lightly staining this wears well. An easy, every day red.

Though it does appear that Revlon have now pulled this line which makes me a bit sad.

What are your favourite lipsticks? Do they change from season to season, or is it a continuous love?

Lip products I’m looking forward to using this Autumn

The other week I was looking through my makeup collection and I came across Revlon’s Black Cherry, AKA the most perfect vampy autumn shade. This got me thinking about all the lip products I wanted to play with between now and winter and I thought i’d pull them together for you.

Revlon – Black Cherry £7.99
The perfect autumn statement lip, this colour is just the right side of dark. The fact the  lipstick isn’t matte makes it a touch more wearable, and is also brilliant when air conditioning and central heating already dry your skin out. The emo in me very excited by this colour, and it makes me want to go late night shopping whilst wrapped up in knitwear sipping a hot chocolate/ mocha.

Fleur De force – Lucky Star £4.15
The gorgeous glossy red adds something different and bright to an outfit. I’m not a huge lipgloss fan, but these leave the lightest stain on your lips so In between applications you still look “done”. Check out the Fuscia shade, another favourite.

MAC – Ruby Woo £15.50
I wear this at any special occasion, but now it’s approaching the festive season this matte beautiful red won’t be far from my makeup bag at all.

Rosie for Autograph – I Love You So Much £14
The only colour I own from this range, this sheer formula is worn any and every season. It is the sheerest colour in my collection, making it a bit high maintenance but this is worth it. (Adore the name btw)

Body Shop – Lip Butters £4
Your lips will be chapped, and you will have a cold and that’s when these delicious moisturising pots come in handy. More moisturising and indulgent than a balm, just ignore the fact your fingers probably aren’t the most hygienic applicator because these are absolute favourite products. And the flavours they come in 😍

Here’s a pile of swatches for you, which ones are your favourites?

Do you get the feeling I’m slightly obsessed with Hannah Gale’s blog at the moment? her list and beauty posts are absolute goals and Im feeling inspired and want to play about with more posts like this. Let me know if you like this style.

This post is also to distract me from the fact can’t get my hands on Charlotte Tilbury’s Velvet Underground lipstick, the product I can’t stop  swatching whenever I pass House of Fraser… sigh

A look in my makeup bag and workday look

First off, appologies for the radio silence on the blog front, life seems to have stepped up a notch in the last month and making time to draw some of my ideas into posts hasn’t seemed to present itself.

To break that habit I thought I’d talk you through my current minimal makeup look, which, more often than not, I apply on the train.

The whole look is cemented by a groomed brow, and that’s where Benefit’s Brow Zings (Light) comes in. This little pallet comes with a wax and powder, alongside two brushes and a teeny tweezer set, you have the option of using one of the brow products ir a combination. I am very fair, and as I have been told by a beautician once, basically colourless eyebrows, so for a subtle yet defined look I tend to use the Angled brush and powder alone. If I used the wax also I end up with an intense look more suited to a night out.

Next I apply concealer (Rimmel Match Perfection Ivory 01) under my eyes, my T Zone and anywhere I have redness and I blend it all in with my finger tips. I powder (Maybelinne Matte Maker 10 Classic Ivory) my entire face with a small blush brush to both set the concealer and matify my look.

I apply two or three coats of No 7’s Intense Volume Mascara, this is a lovely wet formula with a classic bristle brush. I enjoy the slightly spidery finish this gives me and feel very pretty in this. This was a sample from the lovely No 7 girls from the last blog event, the more No 7 mascaras I try the more I love. The brand have a great range of hard wearing formulas and brushes.

My final step is Revlon’s Colourstay Moisture Stain (25 Cannes Crush), last week I was wearing a more pinky red colour than was impactful whilst this one is subtle. This is a lovely lazy girl product, you get a beautiful sheen off this which wears off after an hour or so biut if replaced by a subtle stain that hangs about until lunch time. Perfect product for a lazy girl like me who doesn’t want to appear vain at work constantly touching up my makeup! I actually need to purchase a couple more of these colours, they are a real hero product in my makeup bag right now. Great, long lasting, low maintenance colour!

After applying some perfume on my pressure points from this adoreable mini bottle, I end up with a pretty polished look from my selfie below, I feel fairly “done” and pretty which is a great way to start the day.

The Makeup I Reach For When I’m On Auto Pilot In The Mornings

I work in an office full time, and as the anethisus of a morning person, my alarm goes off just after six every morning so I can guarantee I won’t miss my bus to work every morning. (I also catch a bus earlier than I need to, but that more to do with enjoying a quiet office).

Claires Accessories Make Up Bag

I tend to carry this (adoreable) small ish makeup bag around everyday, and parr back so I have only what I really need in it. Some of these products I’ve used since I was eighteen and some are brand new.

image
Products (Left to Right) : Rimmel Clear Complextion Clarifying Powder, Rimmel Glam Eyes Liquid Liner, Maybeline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation, Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer.

These are my base products, the Dream Matte Mousse I tend to swing in and out if rotation because it drys out my skin, but I love the finish and the longevity but I can’t use it for too extended a period of time. The Rimmel Powder is new, with powders I tend to buy the cheapest that’s a closest match to my skin tone. Sometimes this back fires on me, but this powder is doing the job.

The concealer are my go to’s, the Collection is a cult favourite for its high pigmentation and creamy consistency. It is amazing for spot treatments and keeping my chin from getting obviously oily. The Rimmel on the otherhand is the best most dewy under eye concealer.

And the Rimmel Liquid Liner? I’ve been using it since I was 18, lovely smooth consistency with a very fine brush. I hate felt tip liners, I can never get a fine or clean line with them. I find them so clumpy and messy, I constantly repurchase this liner.

Soap and Glory Archery Brow Pencil

This is my second purchase, I love how find the pencil is and how natural a brow I can create. It also has a spooly on the end for brushing your brows, it is everything you need for your brows in one tidy slim package.

image
Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob, Revlon Colour Burst Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti

These two have very different colours and finishes. The lipliner has a very matte finish, which gives a natural pinky colour, it was a recommendation from my friend Hannah from Tea In My Wardrobe and has been one of my favourites to date. A pinky your lips but better colour. The Colour Burst Lip Butter gives the nicest most summery colour. It’s an orange, but a very subtle orange that really warms up your skin tone.

Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real Mascara

And the creme de la creme, Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real Mascara. I know people complain about how difficult this is to remove but I’ve found the perfect cleanser that removes this like a dream. It gives me the best most open eyed look, one coat looks natural and lovely and building it up gives a dramatic evening look.

Anyway those are my auto pilot products, I can apply them without thinking in the morning and know that they are all I ever need to look pulled together and ready to take on the world. I can even apply them on the bus if I’ve managed to oversleep. What are your products? Do you also love these, or do you have something better you have to share with me? Please do, I know what to swatch next time I’m in Boots!

(We’re pretty new as a blog so this should go without saying, but I purchased all these products myself. This is not a sponsored post)
